I think it was obvious from the start to all of us that this movie opener would definitely not be something that a big billionaire movie studio would make. No, we are not Disney studios or Warner brothers but we did get fancy equipment from Beacon, use ourselves as actors, etc. but at the end it still isn’t something equivalent to the multi-million dollar production movies people see on the big screen which I’m sure the board of Aice knew and expected from us mere students. But imagine I was a big shot director, say James Cameron Christopher Nolan, or Steven Spielberg and I had a billion dollar budget and studio at my finger tips waiting for me to make calls I would certainly abuse that power and make tons of wishes to make this movie opener exactly how I would want. Starting from the casting choices, the lighting, editing, to set and location. I’d make sure to leave a mark on all of these various aspects of movie production and make this movie opener that people would treat like the next academy winning film.
Now, for my casting for the little girl I would want none other than McKenna Grace. If you aren’t familiar with her, she is basically known as the child version of Meryl Streep. Her acting and talent as a young girl is astounding she can portray emotions from happy to severely depressed to angry. You may have seen her in Gifted, Annabelle comes home, ghostbusters. I want to point out her amazing work in Annabelle, another horror film, which goes to show how great she’d be in our horror movie of a girl getting kidnapped. Furthermore, for the creepy kidnapper I’d cast Ethan Hawke who is also a famous actor who is notably in the “Black phone” a movie where he is the main antagonist who kidnaps children and locks them in their basement. Yes he’s creepy as hell in that role but he did a great job at it and so I’d want him to do the same in our role. Now for our lighting and editing I’d do some scenes at night where Hailey is struggling to let go. The night 100% adds fear as we are bound to be scared of the dark, it’s apart of human nature. But because of scheduling conflicts filming at night was just something that wasn’t on our luck. Obviously I’d love to use the state of the art cameras, mics, and more which isn’t the same as the handheld student friendly professional equipment that was lend from Beacon. For the set, if I had the money just like Christopher Nolan who grew 500 acres of a corn field for interstellar or James Cameron who built a sinking mock ship for the movie titanic, I’d take the liberty to make my own playground on a secluded set. This way we wouldn’t have to worry if the noises of little kids playing can be heard or if they make it onto camera. We also wouldn’t have to worry that the sun is about to set because in this set with fixtures lighting it would be morning time at all times. But hey all of this is just Wishlist and not the bittersweet reality.
