Editing Part 2

For our second day of editing, we had to edit all of our movie opening as the deadline was approaching really soon. Over the spring break was when we were all supposed to come together and edit however, we were all busy and had severe scheduling issues. So after coming back from break Jason and Jaden edited our movie opening in a few hours. They were commendable and were able to bring our vision to life. They made sure to cut things so that it flowed well and seem cohesive. Furthermore they also put in the sound effects and foleys that will make the movie opener more immersive and enjoyable. I think they did a great job in a rushed time where we had to get everything done at the latest time. 

Between this second editing date and the first there was another day of shooting where the rest of the group got done the scene at the house where Hailey is getting ready to go out and is putting on her outfit. Also the scene at the car is done of Hailey and her dad driving to the playground. The editing was done so that there are mainly cuts in between each scene. We didn’t want to do any transitions as it would seem like a powerpoint slide and just overall seem very unprofessional and student centric. In big hollywood movies you don’t typically see a swipe transition or any of the sort so we decided to keep it simple with just mainly regular cuts between shots. I think the biggest challenge that had to be faced for us was time. I think that if we had an extra week we could’ve done our initial plan of reshooting some scenes to make creative transitions between each shot but we unfortunately didn’t have that leisure and thus had to think more thoroughly for the editing. Nevertheless, Jason and Jaden did a great job of making use of what they had at hand and made a movie opening we can all proudly call ours.
