Our new plot
As said before in my previous blog about sound, we made a new plot and I said how I was going to delve deeper into that. Now is the time that I do that because this new plot has been much more cohesive and surely has made our job easier. Though we changed our plot kinda late into the year, it was done out of necessity. Our first plot was essentially a trailer and not a movie opener and also required some high level acting that us without any acting experience could just simply not attain without making the movie opener look unserious and goofy. Our first plot was about two brothers and one of them going missing and essentially becoming a sadist murderer. After just one day of filming that initial plot we as a group went onto our new plot of “Gone” (i’m not sure if that is the final title but it’s what we did in the title sequence.) Overall this new plot was much more cohesive, and is still an interesting story to indulge in as it has real world implications that the audience would surely enjoy to see.
So the new plot is about a young girl named Haley. In this movie opener we begin with her at her house getting ready to go to the playground. She is adorned in child like bracelets, pigtails, etc to enforce her juvenile innocence. Her parent drives her to the playground and is sure to remind Haley to be safe like any other loving parent to their child. We see Hayley in a happy mood walking down the road and then to the playground. There she plays around with her dolls and has a fun time. Thus far it is morning time and the sun is bright. Then at the end of the movie opener we see that Haley is by herself in the playground and the sun is at sunset. We see the shadows of her swinging and overall the eerie feeling that she is being watched. Then at the end there is a shot of a man in a mask launching at the camera in Haley’s point of view to show that she got kidnapped in the process of her naive outing to the playground. This plot is true to the horror genre that we wanted to do since the beginning but is much more of a movie opener as the viewers can assume and want to know that the rest of the movie will entail of what happened to Haley, if she got found, why’d she get kidnapped, etc.
