Sound
Recently, we all sat down with each other at Maylynn’s to revise our entire plot. There were several reasons behind this decision as our original plot wasn’t cohesive and that it had scenes that required professional acting. It was also more of a trailer rather than a movie opening, like what the Becon guy told us. Therefore we had to change up our entire script to make shots not only easier to film but to also make it cohesive and easier to follow. Anyways, with this new plot there will be many creative ways we can implement sounds and sound editing to make a more enhanced and engaging experience for the viewers. I will have an upcoming blog going more in depth of our new and improved plot but for now I’ll discuss what will be entailed in the sound editing process of our new movie opening.
To begin, the main editing will be conducted by Maylynn as she is very thorough and talented with editing skills. I had the pleasure of being her partner in our previous sound story project so I have first hand knowledge of how well she edits and mixes sound audios, and she told me how she had precious experience in editing too. Nevertheless, everyone will work together to aid Maylynn in anything she requires or wants input on. We will use Jaden’s adobe software to edit, various non copyrighted sound websites, and create our own foleys during the editing too. Furthermore, for the actual sound audios we will implement, such as the beginning scene where we see a girl zipping up her backpack with dolls which will be all diegetic and synchronous audio. We will hear dialogue between her mother and her talking about being safe outside while in the background you’ll hear the faint audio of a radio telling people about how there is an alarming rate of kidnappings happening. Later on, she steps out of the house and non diegetic upbeat/happy music will be playing as she goes to the playground by herself showing the girls naïvety and innocence. We’ll get to hear the squeak a swing makes or the noise that gets made when one goes down the slides (synchronous audio). The happy music gets changed to eerie and disturbing audio as it shows how she is not alone at the playground and will momentarily get kidnapped with a plastic bag over head, which we’ll get to hear through diegetic sound as well.
