Main character analysis

   

         There are 2 main characters in the movie opening. The two brothers one of them that has a double role in the sense that he has an alter ego revealed at the end of the story, Jason Davis who will be the deranged murderer. As we are just using the costumes to convey the distinct personalities and mental illnesses of our characters; especially Jason Davis, who portrays the insane and psychologically disturbed brother. Jason is a character who is visibly going through a rough period in time, he is a young adult who is having issues with taking medication for his mental illness. Though his brother wants to help him combat his inner problems, Jason doesn't want to accept his brothers help. In a fit of rage he packs up his belongings and flees away. The costumes are, all things considered, an essential component of the beginning prologue.  It is crucial that we make clear who the main antagonist and protagonist of our story is. For instance, Jason Davis wears a black turtleneck, black slacks, and black boots to further convey his dark intentions as he changes into a deranged individual who rebels towards his brother and vanishes out of nowhere. Additionally, he has untidy, unclean hair to highlight his roughness and lack of self-care, which reveals much about his character and inner turmoil he’s going through when the viewers meet his character. His character is a stark contrast from his brother, Jaden who maintains a much healthier lifestyle. We see Jason Davis with several props including prescribed pills that he does not take for his mental illness, and a packed backpack with clothes that he uses to run away. Additionally, as mentioned before Jason Davis will also be the murderer in the ending of the opening where we will see him adorned in a clown costume. This was inspired by the numerous adaptations of horror-esque clowns movies have made including Pennywise from It. We will get to see Jason in a  clown mask, colorful clown suit, gloves, etc. He will also be holding a garbage bag which is implying that he is holding a dead body. The start of where we meet Jason wearing dark black outfit is just the beginning reflecting how he is feeling lost and going through much in his life, but seeing him in this clown outfit will show him transform fully with malicious intent and how far he has gone mentally. 

        Jaden Davis, presents himself as competent, prim, and meticulous by dressing in a button down shirt with black slacks and business shoes, accessorizing with a watch, a neat haircut, and a clean shave on the part of his beard. We chose to provide him this attire because it emphasizes Jaden’s temperament as it shows how calculating and calm he is in stressful situations. Whereas Jason is more erratic and unpredictable. Jaden demonstrates his mental stability, sanity, intelligence, responsibility, and ability to communicate clearly and logically. Jaden will also be provided with props. We see him putting up missing person posters of Jason even months after his disappearance which shows how he is still not giving up his search and also conveys a sense of compassion he has in his brother even though Jason has gone rogue and has been going through many difficulties mentally and psychologically. Jaden deeply cares for his brother and is concerned over his wellbeing, thus is why we can see him leave his usual temperament for a bit when he yells at Jason to take his medication, but he quickly goes back to his usual empathetic and calm reserve when he apologies to Jason, trying to stop him from leaving. Furthermore, Jaden’s character is someone who the audience should root for and also be able to trust as he does not have a bad record with him, on the other hand the audience will easily be able to pick up how Jason’s character has evil tendencies. All in all, Jaden’s character will be the protagonist in our story.
