Costuming

Image
As the filming dates approach it was essential to ensure that we have an idea on what our characters attire should look like. Costuming is important as it will reflect the characters personality and inner feelings. It will help the audience better understand their inner thoughts and relate to them more. For Jason and Jaden’s clothing we will have to go through their wardrobes and decide the clothing. Going through with the story, Jaden will likely wear more brighter clothes, something more formal. For instance, a sweater or button down shirt and some dress pants. This is because he is the older, and more put together brother in our story. Jason, on the other hand, will have an opposite wardrobe to Jaden to reflect his inner turmoil and mental state. So we will probably see Jason wearing less formal clothing such as pants/jeans and a shirt that is all black. Also, in the final scene we see a masked individual who will have his mask on ...

Preparing To Film

Image
As the second semester begins, we started to finalize more aspects and details about what our final project will look like as well as how we will execute it. We already have decided much of the work and a lot of things are set in stone. So that we all are on the same page of what the final product will look like. As far as the story goes, doing the story board has really put things into perspective for us and really made us sit down and make big decisions for a cohesive story. Obviously, through filming we may make adjustments but for the six aspects i’ll talk about, we have a general idea for what is to be expected. Some of the topics we need to go over with each other such as filming date and finding a time that will work with all of our busy schedules. But as always our group will work together and make those decisions keeping our best interests in mind. 1. The Actors Since the start, we already had decided who the actors were going to be. That has been set in st...

Final Project Story Board

Image
In our collective storyboard, it starts off in a dark alley with low key lighting. The camera shows an establishing shot and proceeds to have a guy putting up a missing person poster. There is a close up shot of a particular poster here. We show a figure or dark silhouette in the background. Then the character turns around to inspect the area but sees nothing there. The next scene is a a cut to white kettle with a smash cut of pills falling to the ground and you can hear two people arguing in the background. The next scene will all be a flashback. To show this scene will have white filtering, hence all these shots having white streaks. We see the two brothers fighting with each other in a two shot and then a dutch angle shot of them fighting as well. To heighten the argument one of the brothers starts throwing things and it starts a series of jump cuts of him packing his things to leave. His brother tries to stop him but he leaves anyways. Then we see the door slamming shut with ...

Final Project Mood Board

Image
The mood board I made for our mystery/horror movie opening encapsulates the main aesthetics and plot we decided to show. To begin with, the ambiance of my storyboard reflects of the saturation the film opening will deploy. It won’t be high key lighting as we are going for something dark and heavy, so the lighting has to be lowkey and dark to reflect that atmosphere. Furthermore, my mood board shows the setting of a forest that is significant to our plot and where we want our characters to be put into to isolate them from the outside world. A main part of this story is to have a missing person so the “murder” headline, the missing person posters, and the red lines connecting to each other is a nod to those themes that will be portrayed in our movie opening. Additionally, one of the images in the mood board is a man in a mask. Which will be apart of the clothing/accessories one of the characters will wear to induce fear and create suspense over the identity. We want the mask to loo...
