Mood Board

 

The movie I decided to create a mood board on was, Hocus Pocus (1993). This movie was heavily inspired by Halloween themes as well as the season autumn. Upon watching this film these themes were thoroughly conveyed through the cinematography and color. This included a vibrant/effervescent essence as well as a dark, and daunting vibe. When seeing this film you can grasp the aesthetic the film portrays and the way it changes throughout sequences. I decided to portray both of these themes of autumn and halloween onto my creative display.

 On the left of the mood board, it is more bright autumn colors as seen on the color palette (bottom left). This shows the more vibrant and joyful moments of the film when we are introduced to characters in school/their interactions and see the film having orange leaves piled up, people wearing red coats for the cold and when we see the humorous sides of the witches. Gradually onto the right side of the mood board, we see the more spooky side of Hocus Pocus, with many picture references to the movie. These images are dramatic and different from the left side as we can see from the color palette where it’s dark black, blue, purple and gray. These pictures evoke a mysterious and ominous mood including a black cat, haunted house, graveyard, etc. Overall this mood board encompasses Hocus Pocus as film with the epitome of the season of October.
