Mise en scène

Image
Movie:  Titanic (1997) Shot #1 Here, Jack and Rose went to an iconic setting of this movie, the ships edge while embracing one another. At this edge they were enabled to see wondrous sights from the top. The lighting here is warm putting emphasis on the harmonious atmosphere both are experiencing. The scenery is an entrancing and pleasing sunset with hues of red orange and yellow, overall making the shot an artistic and alluring view. The framing of the actors in this shot is what makes this spectacle prevalent. We see Rose with her arms stretched out wide indicating how she’s let loose and is availing herself with liberty while Jack is behind her wrapping his arms around her signifying him encouraging her to emancipate herself from the wealth, politics and societal restrictions to embracing her feelings.  Shot #2 In this scene, Rose and Jack went to a unique setting of the titanic, the lower deck of the ship. This new setting has its own ambiance from the upper deck with the ...

Mood Board

Image
The movie I decided to create a mood board on was, Hocus Pocus (1993). This movie was heavily inspired by Halloween themes as well as the season autumn. Upon watching this film these themes were thoroughly conveyed through the cinematography and color. This included a vibrant/effervescent essence as well as a dark, and daunting vibe. When seeing this film you can grasp the aesthetic the film portrays and the way it changes throughout sequences. I decided to portray both of these themes of autumn and halloween onto my creative display.  On the left of the mood board, it is more bright autumn colors as seen on the color palette (bottom left). This shows the more vibrant and joyful moments of the film when we are introduced to characters in school/their interactions and see the film having orange leaves piled up, people wearing red coats for the cold and when we see the humorous sides of the witches. Gradually onto the right side of the mood board, we see the more spooky side o...

Sound Story

Image
The sound story that me and my partner Maylynn made was about getting ready to go to the restaurant, the journey there, and the experience of the dining.  Editing software used - To make the sound story, the website "WeVideo" was used to create layering, add sound effects, create sound bridges and etc. Furthermore, to put together the 4 Foley videos we made, "Capcut" was used.  Techniques learned - With this sound project, I learned the technique of Foley editing. How making sounds with your own materials not during the actual shooting of a film can be used. Foley editing can be cleverly used with materials that don't even correspond to what is being shown on screen. Moreover, I learned about sound layering and how it effects the ambiance of the film Difficulties encountered - While filming one of the Foley videos where I had to spray perfume, the audio was picking up sounds that were made from me moving my hand, so I used a microphone from my headphones to mini...
